Cocaine Solutions: Help for Cocaine Abusers and Their Families
Published in Paperback by Harrington Park Pr (December, 1990)
Authors: Jennifer Rice-Licare and Katharine Delaney-McLoughlin
Average review score:

A wonderful book!
I bought this book hoping to find some insight into a friend's crack addiction.

This book teaches you about cocaine and cocaine addiction. It talks about who can be a cocaine addict and how to tell if you or a loved one is an addict.

The real life stories touch the heart and show that you aren't the only person going through what you are going through.

All in all this is a great book for those dealing with cocaine/crack addiction.

Thank YOU Thank YOU!
I did not really come to closure of the old part of my life until I read this book. Rice is incredible. The stories must be true. I felt as though I knew all these people. Thank you for taking the time to write this book.

Eurovision heaven
It's taught me everything I know. A growing number of my mates around Europe have now got it and love it. It's an absolute must for any true ESC fan. They are also becoming increasingly hard to find, so grab one while you can!

The Eurovision's Bible
It's a really great book about the history of the one and only Eurovision Song Contest. Every fan should have this in his house. My friends and I call it 'The Bible'

A Country Christmas (5 Stories in 1)
Published in Paperback by Signet (October, 1999)
Authors: Emily Bradshaw, Jodi Thomas, Patricia Rice, Raine Cantrell, and Karen Harper
Average review score:

Very Entertaining!
I really enjoyed this book. I have purchased copies to share with family and friends. I enjoyed the relationships that took place between the men and women. This book contained no sex, so my 13 year old daughter could read this book. I can't give enough praise to the authors of this book but, I will read this book every Christmas and it will remain on my shelf as one of my favorites.

Truly heart-warming!
I really enjoyed every one of the stories in this collection. I kept reading and re-reading "The Gift" by Emily Bradshaw. Another pregnant woman in a blizzard, but this time our heroine can't remember who she is or where she's from (and it's better off forgotten, anyway). But she changes the lives of the father and son who find her and she and her daughter charm their ways into a whole new life. I just loved it! "A Husband for Holly" by Jodi Thomas was enchanting! And Raine Cantrell's "A Time for Giving" was also a delight I read more than once.

Dawn Powell (Twayne's United States Authors Series, Tusas 715)
Published in Hardcover by Twayne Pub (August, 2000)
Author: Marcelle Smith Rice
Average review score:

Excellent critical study
More of an overview of Powell's life than a straight ahead bio, this book (wisely) focuses more on Powell's novels, concerning itself with their creation and relation to the author's life and experiences. Ms. Rice has a very fluid, readable style and makes many fascinating points about Powell's life and works (one thing which made me think a great deal was the fact that while her novels were very autobiographical, she excluded any 'character' resembling her autistic son.) This is a fine companion to Tim Page's bio of Powell and I highly recomend it; however, if you are looking for a more traditional biography, Tim Page's book is probably a better choice.

Either way, both volumes (as well as Powell's own works) have made me quite devoted to this wonderful novelist, and for that I thank Mr. Page and Ms.Rice both.

A splendid study of a great writer
Having spent the last nine years involved in my own research into the life and work of Dawn Powell, I was unprepared for the richness and depth of Marcelle Smith Rice's fresh take on this extraordinary author. I learned a great deal from this book -- and enjoyed every bit of it. Rice's prose is clear, welcoming, insightful and detailed, and she has written an affectionate and appropriate study.

Disney's Beauty and the Beast: A Celebration of the Broadway Musical
Published in Hardcover by Hyperion Pr (December, 1995)
Authors: Donald Frantz, Sue Heinemann, Howard Ashman, Tim Rice, Alan Beauty and the Beast Menken, Walt Disney Productions, and Don Frantz
Average review score:

A GREAT book!
This book was a real treat going through. Loaded with photographs, it tells the story as a script, shows the design of the characters, and then shows the special effects, sets, and other cool stuff. It's a great soveneir of the musical, and if you haven't it's a great book to read to experience the musical if you can't experience it on Broadway

This book is wondefully elaborate and ornate.
This book is excellent. It is filled with gorgeous pictures from the Broadway musical. It also contains the complete lyrics and a story line of how the actual musical was produced. This is a definite for any musical theatre fan!

Do Animals Have Feelings Too
Published in Unknown Binding by Bt Bound (March, 2000)
Author: David Rice
Average review score:

Encourages discussing feelings & opinions
by Diana Guerrero
This book is a good tool to get kids to discuss feelings and to describe their views and own experiences. It presents emotional themes such as compassion, loyalty, grief, and others, while giving animal examples and then asking questions. Although there are examples of animals choosing the opposite responses to those presented (gorillas in captivity have attacked people, etc.) the book is a good tool for sparking dialog and breaking through the old concept that animals don't have emotions.

Compassion Compounded
Although I'm 57, not 13, I love the new book-for-all-ages DO ANIMALS HAVE FEELINGS, TOO? This remarkable book is required reading for everyone who loves animals, and also for those who need lessons in compassion. I can't imagine a better Christmas gift for Grandma, Aunt Susie, or a favorite teacher. (Maybe a child's LEAST favorite teacher should have one, too.) Superbly illustrated by Trudy Calvert, a noted wilflife artist, the book begs to be petted; your fingers will automatically run over every hair of these delightful animals. The author has managed to teach a valuable lesson of compassion for all living things, incredibly important in this sometimes emotionally barren world. Long after you close the book, the illustrations and the message haunt you. What more can you ask of a unique, loving book?

Eastern Arabic
Published in Paperback by Georgetown Univ School of Language (December, 1979)
Authors: Frank A. Rice and Majed F. Sa'id
Average review score:

best yet
I wrote the previous review. I want to make sure that people are aware they need the tapes to this book which covers all the chapters. If you have a person that speaks this dialect then you probably will not need the tapes.
What makes this a good book is it covers the same sentences when spoken to a man, woman, group, and third person.
1.It introduces each word separetly with its meaning before adding it to a sentence.
2. It covers grammer but not to the point you get sick.
3. It has exercises at the end of each chapter to test your knowledge.
4. Each chapter is only several pages and cover situations, example shopping.
5. Each lesson builds on the previous and makes sure to keep words that were learned continue to be used or reviewed.
6. The book contains 30 lessons and an arabic-english, english -arabic dictionary at the end of most of the words covered in the book.
The bad
1. If this course is bought throuh Amazon the tapes do not come with it and must be purchased seperatly.
2. I bought the entire course through Audio forum for 185$ which includes the 8 tapes. I know its expensive but I have not seen any eastern arabic course compare to it. ( not yet)

Great book
If you want to learn Eastern Arabic, This is the book!

An Engineer Imagines
Published in Hardcover by Artemis-Aidc (October, 1994)
Author: Peter Rice
Average review score:

A hard to reach star, but one of the brightest.
Peter Rice was a genius behind modern landmarks like the Sydney Opera, the Centre Pompidou, and Lloyd's Bank in London. This british structural engineer gave our world a mighty heave to the future. He humbly sings throughout this book to his love of his work, to the greatness of human mind, and to the evolution of our understanding of materials and tools.

A Great Structural Engineer
Peter Rice is arguably the greatest structural engineer of our time. Loved by Architects like Renzo Piano for his innovation and consequently his ability to make their dreams come true. An inspirational book, parts of which reads almost like poetry. A very rare breed indeed for a book on engineering.
